Every Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. we meet to sketch. We usually spend most of our time outside during the late spring to early fall. However, when the weather gets inclement, we meet in my studio in Tigard, Oregon. to hone our skills for the next adventure.

Fun with Acrylics Retreat
May 27-29, 2011
Waldport, Oregon 

Come play with acrylics for an entire weekend. Bring your own photos or ideas and paint away. Some experience needed. Cost is $145 for workshop. Limit 10 students. Fee includes most materials, studio use. Accommodation (dorm-style) available to first six students.

Glastonbury Studio Classes in Tigard
Pre-Registration is required

The First Sunday Collage/Journaling Class: 1 pm to 4 pm Journaling is a great way to relieve stress & express yourself. Discover your inner self through various art materials & found pieces. Bring 9x12, 90# spiral sketchbook. All other supplies provided. $20.00 (pre- registration required by email jjgoodell@gmail.com). Winter term dates: December 5, January 2, February 6, March 6, 2011.

Every Tuesday evening: Studio Drawing         7 pm to 9 pm
A subject- driven class that helps students to sharpen their skills, it covers a  variety of subjects from portraits to landscapes.  Supply list given at first class.  Six week term: January 11- February 15, $65.00

Every Wednesday morning:  Sketching      10 am to 12:30 pm Enjoy learning all about sketching using a variety of media: graphite, oil pastel, colored pencil, pen and ink. We will explore everything from still life to landscapes. Supply list given at first class.  Six week term: January 12-February 16 $65

Every Thursday evening: Open Studio             7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Here is your chance to finish all those projects you have started or even begin some new ones.  During the Open Studio, you can bring in whatever project, whatever  media (excluding oils or soft pastels). I will be available for technical advice and encouragement. Six week term: January 13-February 17. $65 The class is limited to eight students.

Friday, January 14       Drawing with Pastels      
Learn to create luscious pastel paintings using both soft and oil pastels on sanded paper and canvas with in-class exercises. All supplies provided. $15 materials fee.

 

Saturday, January 15   Visual Journaling Mixed Media and Collage Journaling is a great way to relieve stress and to express yourself. Discover your inner self through various collage materials, paints and found pieces. Bring 9x12 spiral sketchbook, all other supplies included.$15 materials fee.

 

Friday, January 28      Basic Drawing       

If you can print your ABCs, you can learn to draw! Learn the basics to drawing and design with practical examples and constructive exercises. Covers basic shapes to perspective. Bring 9x12 spiral sketchbook, all other supplies included. $15 materials fee.

 

Saturday, January 29    Acrylic Painting 101       

Here's a chance to learn the basics to acrylic painting; from brushes to surfaces for fine art painting. No experience is needed. Bring apron, rag and paper towels. All other supplies provided. $25 materials fee.

 

Friday, February 11    Drawing with Colored Pencil     

Learn how to use colored pencil by building up layers until you reach a brilliant, colorful surface. Learn how to use a variety of strokes and blending techniques on a variety of grounds. All supplies provided.

$15 materials fee.

 

Saturday, February 12    Painting: Color Mixing/Watercolor and Acrylic

Yes, you can create lively color! Come learn basic color theory and mixing, using only the primary colors (red, blue and yellow) in both watercolor and acrylics. All supplies provided.$!5 materials fee.


Friday, February 25   Drawing with Pen and Ink      

Learn how to illustrate with pen and ink, using watercolor washes, while exploring a variety of pens, methods and techniques. Bring 9 x 12 sketchbook. All other supplies provided. $15 materials fee.

 

Saturday, February 26    Acrylic Painting 102     

As a sequel to Acrylic Painting 101, we will explore more color mixing, using mediums and creating texture. Prerequisite: Acrylic Painting 101. Bring apron, rag and paper towels. All other supplies provided.$25 materials fee.

 

Saturday, March 12    Travel Sketching Workshop      

Journey with your sketchbook. Capture street scenes, markets, people and landscapes. Use pencil, watercolor pencil, watercolor washes or pen and ink. Bring 9x12 sketchpad all other supplies provided. $15 materials fee.
