September at Sitka

Come to the Coast and enjoy a few days with me at Sitka. I’ll be covering the basics again: drawing and acrylics. Founded in 1970, the Sitka Center for Art and Ecology fosters creativity, intellectual inquiry and education. By helping others discover more about their core creative selves and their connections to nature, the Sitka Center works to fulfill its mission of expanding the relationships between art, nature and humanity.

Basic Acrylic Painting

Friday and Saturday, September 20- 21, 2013

10 a.m. To 4 p.m.

Boyden Studio

$185

If you ever wanted to learn to paint, this is the workshop to take. Unlike other painting media, acrylic is the easiest and most forgiving. In this beginning workshop, learn how to put paint to canvas in a relaxed, encouraging environment. Along with learning how to handle the paint and a variety of mediums, discover how to use brushes and brushstrokes, paint on various grounds (paper, boards) and have fun while you're at it. In addition to leaving with some great first-time paintings, you'll have a workbook that will serve as a future reference tool. Bring:  Apron • Rag • 3 - 9” x 12” canvas boards. All other supplies provided. $185

Basic Drawing

Monday September 23, 2013

10 a.m. To 4 p.m.

Boyden Studio
$100

Anyone can draw! Hundreds of people have taken this workshop and they have walked out with drawings. Good drawings! That's because drawing is a skill that anyone can learn. It's just like the skill you learned when you first wrote your ABCs. In this basic course, your instructor will take you by the hand and show you how to begin with simple lines and shapes. Then by using form, you will be creating fruit, flowers, houses, and more in no time at all. No talent required, just a willingness to learn. Practice workbook included. Bring 9” x 12” spiral sketchbook with at least 70# paper–all other supplies provided. .
